United Kingdom / Denmark - Miss Marjorie E. Clements Red Cross Group with Medal for Aid to Prisoners

Description

Very rare group of a female receiving the British War Medal 1914-1918 in conjunction with the Danish Commemorative Medal for Aid to Prisoners of War 1914-1918.

The British War Medal is made from silver and comes with its original ribbon. The rim is marked with the name of the recipient: “M·E·Clements·” Marjorie Clements served in Denmark from October 30, 1916, to July 30, 1917, and was entitled to the medal in 1919 as being part of the BRC (BRITISH RED CROSS) and with the British Voluntary Aid Detachment.

The Danish medal was created on August 16, 1918, and is made from silver and enamel. The medal was awarded only 566 times.

Accompanied with rich documentation and copies of the British rolls.

Interesting and extraordinary group. More on the topic here: http://www.omsa.org/files/jomsa_arch/Splits/2012/438254_JOMSA_Vol63_3_43.pdf
