Heer Gebirgsjäger "Bergmütze" for officers.
Machine-woven T-eagle for officers postwar attached by hand. Silver bullion officer piping at the top. On the left is a hand-applied aluminum Edelweiß badge. The two aluminum buttons to the front are marked "RZM SS 155/38".
Light brown cotton lining with manufacturer's stamp "Almi Koblenz M38" and size stamp "57". The brown leather sweatband has normal signs of wear and age and is still soft.
Brass grommets with full color on the outside.
Original cap in good but worn condition with patina and without any moth damage.
Since the SS marked buttons are period time attached and the eagle is postwar attached, we believe this was originally worn by a Waffen-SS mountain trooper.
