Walter Hübner - personal leather flight helmet
Description
Personal period time leather flight helmet. Might be German. No markings.
Soft leather.
Please note the helmet was photographed being placed incorrectly on the stand.
Walter Hübner served with the Imperial "Fliegertruppe" in WW1. Later in the Third Reich he also served with the Luftwaffe and the DLV. After his military service and the end of the war, he worked for the PFL (Propulsion Field Laboratory) as an aeronautical engineer. The facility tested rocket engines for the US space program from 1949 to 2006, including the F-1 engine used on the "Apollo" program.
