A German M40 helmet. The type of helmet issued to Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, Polizei and Waffen-SS troops. This example was issued by the Heer.
Paint: The factory paint is almost worn off. Light rust.
Decals: The eagle decal is about 25%.
A thick piece of wire was added around the shell to attached camo material. The hook to the reverse allowed the owner to fast it to its belt or rucksack.
Lining: Partially damaged.
Unopened prongs. The liner is original to the shell.
Chin strap: Maker marked. Quite soft.
Markings: hard to read shell stamos. It looks to be a size "62" shell.
