Description

Two 1914 Iron Crosses 1st Class, along with the 1939 Clasp and personal ribbon bar of Generalfeldmarschall Georg von Küchler (1881–1968).

A well-worn 9-place ribbon bar with visible signs of age.

The 1939 Clasp for the 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class is made of Tombak, marked L/21, with a nice patina.

The 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class by Meybauer shows wear and features the Meybauer maker's mark.

The second 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class is silver, marked "800" on the pin, with a dark patina.

King Frederick William III of Prussia

King Frederick William III of Prussia initially created the Iron Cross as a military decoration on March 17, 1813, during the Napoleonic Wars. The Iron Cross was also awarded during the Franco-Prussian War (1870), World War I (1914), and World War II (1939).

The Iron Cross was usually a military decoration only but awarded to civilians for performing military functions in a few instances.
