This is a lightweight steel helmet shell for the SS Sicherheitdienst (SD). The helmet features field grey paint on the outside with both the national decal and the SS decal present at about 60%. There is a nice patina over the entire outside of the helmet. The liner has been removed and only one rivet is still present. The inside shows the same paint with loss around the folded edge from use. The only marking is the stamp 'Edelstahl'
This is a less common helmet and very desirable even if not complete. Early mid 1930s period time.
