Description

Anhalt commemorative medal for the 90th birthday of the Duchess - widow Friedrike zu Anhalt - Bernburg. MAde from gilded silver, on original ribbon section. The cipher "FCJ" of the founder Friedrike Caroline Juliane, set in a three row oak leaf wreath surmounted by the Anhalt Crown. Nice and old patina and in pristine condition.
The right to award the medal was transferred from Duke Friedrich to the duchess widow on October 9, 1900. The medal was awarded almost exclusively to birthday guests on the occasion of celebrations at Ballenstädt Palace. The badge did not have to be returned.
