VIEW DESCRIPTION

The sign is made of sheet steel. It shows the lettering "Fl.Pl. Pitomnik" and the Luftwaffe eagle. The Pitomnik Airfield was an airfield in Russia. During the Second World War, it was the most important of seven airfields used by the Wehrmacht during the Battle of Stalingrad.
