Description
Impressive large size silver tray presented to "Scharmführer Hübner" as an organizer of the DLV "Deutschlandflug 1934" by this aircraft crew . Maker marked, stamped with half-moon and crown as well as "835" silver stamped. Overall nice condition with patina. No dents or damage. Certainly more impressive when you have it in your hands.
 
Engraved DLV emblem to the front side as well as accurately engraved map of Germany with the route of the flights.

Walter Hübner served with the Imperial "Fliegertruppe" in WW1. Later in the Third Reich he also served with the Luftwaffe and the DLV. After his military service and the end of the war, he worked for the PFL (Propulsion Field Laboratory) as an aeronautical engineer. The facility tested rocket engines for the US space program from 1949 to 2006, including the F-1 engine used on the "Apollo" program.
