2 M40 helmets one issued to the Heer one to the Luftwaffe.
The Heer helmet shows that it has had multiple paintings but was originally a double decal issue with the national eagle decal mostly worn away and the shield covered in paint with just some or it showing through.
The helmet does show a significant amount of white snow cammoflage on top of the rough sand paint. There is some rust and most notably a large crack in the steel. There is some rust penetrating the paint on the inside and outside of the helmet.
On the inside there is a liner complete with cord and also a chinstrap. The leather is stiff from age. The helmet is marked NS62 and lot marked '15'
The second helmet is an M40 issued to the luftwaffe. The helmet is painted in a luftwaffe blue sand paint over the original factory paint. The silhouette of the Luftwaffe eagle is clearly visible.
On the inside of this helmet there is a clean flexible liner withthe original cord. The liner is stamed with a 54 size marker and also named to Lt Bölling. the helmet includes an original chin strap and is marged Q64 and lot marker DN201.
