Early Tombac/Buntmetall made hollow General Assault Badge. Attributed to the Pforzheim-based maker O. Schickle. After the Schickle company was forced out of business in 1941 leftover stock ended up with different companies. This GAB was bought by the neighboring company BH Mayer en re-marked with that company's LDO code L/18 on the needle pin. Although the award itself isn't really rare these rebranded GAB's are considered the holy grail of early combat award collecting. The award shows clear traces of wear but otherwise survived in factory original condition featuring the early round wire "c" hook. A rare GAB variant with tons of character.
