The Fairbairn–Sykes fighting knife is a double-edged weapon resembling a dagger or poignard, distinguished by its foil grip. It was designed by William Ewart Fairbairn and Eric Anthony Sykes in Shanghai, inspired by their experiences with the Shanghai Municipal Police before World War II.

The F-S fighting knife gained prominence during World War II when it was issued to British Commandos, Airborne Forces, the SAS, and other units, notably during the Normandy landings in June 1944. Characterized by its sharply tapered, pointed blade, the F-S knife is often likened to a stiletto, a weapon optimized for thrusting. However, it can also deliver slashing cuts if its edges are sharpened according to specifications. The Wilkinson Sword Company produced the knife with slight variations in the pommel and grip design.
