Description

Heer four pocket service tunic, a so-called ornamented field tunic (Geschmückte Feldbluse). It is designed with four pockets and cuffs like a normal officer's field tunic but comes with piping around the collar, the cuffs and along the vertical button line. This type of tunic is considered to be rather rare.

It belonged to Dr. Hellmut Herbst who was a German officer born on February 24th, 1895, in Grünortspitze, East Prussia. He served in the Heer (German Army) during both World Wars, achieving the rank of Oberst (Colonel). Herbst commanded the Grenadier-Regiment 695, part of the 340th Infantry Division, and distinguished himself in several campaigns during World War II.

Herbst was recognized for his leadership and valor with numerous military decorations, spanning both World Wars. His extensive service history includes awards for bravery and merit, acknowledging his role in key military operations.

  • Ehrenblattspange des Heeres und Waffen-SS (January 7, 1944)
