A German M40 helmet. The type of helmet issued to Heer, Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, Polizei and Waffen-SS troops. This example was issued by the Heer.
Paint: Wartime sand paint on the outside with smooth field grey paint on the inside. Around 90%+ still present. Signs of wear and slight rust pitting on the inside. Remarkably there is nearly no rust around the crimped rim. No Decal Present
Lining: Original lining with cord with some writing added by the wearer to the leather including the name 'Hahn' no visible size marking. The prongs look to have been opened once. Additionally there are some mold markings on the linner liner
Chin strap: Complete and flexible. Maker marked and dated 1943 with RB Number.
Markings: faintly stamped Q followed by what appears to be the size '64'. also includes \358
